Small Business Digital Adaptation Program

$1,200 Rebates & Free Training for Going Digital.

Everyone likes free stuff yeh?

Well I have something that might float your free-stuff-boat. It’s not exactly going to bring forward your retirement age, but it’s something.

Back in September 2020, Dan Andrews and friends announced the Small Business Adaptation Program, a $20m initiative to help Victorian small businesses adapt to digital.

HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?

Register for the program here
Sign up for your preferred digital product (refer below for a list of approved products)
Apply for a rebate of $1,200 to cover 12 months’ free acces
Free training and workshops will also be made available
WHAT’S THE CATCH?

As usual, there’s always a few pesky catches..

The main ones are:
Business must be located in Victoria
Must have held an ABN at 13 September 2019
Must have been registered for GST on 13 September 2020
Must register online before purchasing the digital product
Must register before 28th February
Must purchase a product after registration date and before 31 March
Product must (a) not be currently used; OR (b) be an upgrade of existing product; OR (c) be a product used >12 months ago
Does not cover cost of renewing existing products or licences, minor updates to existing products or products excluded from the approved list

ELIGIBLE DIGITAL PRODUCTS

Unfortunately only a few products are currently eligible for this rebate.

These are the lucky chosen products so far (list is subject to change):

  • Mr Yum – food & beverage (digital ordering)
  • Australian Good Food Guide – food & beverage
  • MYOB – accounting & business management
  • Xero – accounting & business management
  • Intuit (QuickBooks) – accounting & business management
  • Reckon – accounting & business management
  • Lawpath – legal services
  • Shopify – end-to-end retail
  • Square – end-to-end retail
  • Ecwid Inc – end-to-end retail
  • Squarespace – website creation
  • ServiceM8 – trades job management
  • Trade Trak – trades job management
  • VIC Automobile Chamber of Commerce (VACC) – automotive services

At risk of sounding product-pushy, the interesting inclusion is Lawpath (we don’t have any affiliation) given it’s one that all businesses could use.

Lawpath is an online legal services platform that allows you to access a database of legal documents and use them in your business (i.e. agreements, contracts, policies, T&Cs and more) and receive free 30 minute phone consultations with a lawyer (included in subscription price).

Our understanding is that you could purchase a 12 months subscription (for $288) and potentially get a cash rebate of $1,200 (i.e. cost of -$912). Which is better than slap in the face with a wet marine animal.

Hope that helps. Go forth and register if you’re interested!

As always, any questions – please don’t hesitate to let us know.
